Algonquin Indians
In the Algonquin Indian Tribe of the Quebec a kind of rite of passage that they do is they take their young boys into a secluded area, often caged, and then they are given an intoxication medicine known as wysoccan. This drug is an extremely dangerous hallucinogen that is said to be 100 times more powerful than LSD. This ritual is intended to force any memories of being a child out of the boy's mind. Unfortunately some boys also suffer a more intense memory loss even to the extent that they lose memory of their family, their own identity, and sometimes even the ability to speak. If any of the boys show recognition towards their childhood after returning to the village, that boy is taken back and given a second dose, and forced to cheat death a second time.
