Worldwide traditions

Last thursday, I was watching a show on Oxygen where an Albanian-American girl was marrying an Albanian-American man. Like alot of other patrilineal cultures, the woman had to do EVERYTHING for the family. She had to learn how to serve tea correctly, her parents couldn't come to her wedding, she had to move in with her husbands family (patrilocal residence) and everything had to be ok'ed with her husband's parents. Everything was centered around the bride being the most perfect bride possible and pleasing the husband/husband's family. Alot of the family's pride and reputation comes from how the new bride acts and conducts herself. This Albanian model of culture sure fit in with alot of cultures that we've studied in class and I was easily able to pick out alot of their customs, traditions, and to find out exactly how their homes and cultural customs were ran. It was interesting to observe it from the mindset of our anthropology class.
