Another one of the Human Planet video clips shows the commute of a Tibetan family on their way to school. Now I thought walking across campus in blizzard like conditions was bad enough, this family is on a six day trek to school, a trek many of us wouldn’t even think about. The video clips shows the family approaching a hurdle. The family comes across a very thin sport of ice to cross. If the ice is too thin the family won’t be able to cross and must come up with an alternate route. This is just one of the many hurdles the family encounters over their sixty mile trek to school. Some of the obstacles include subzero weather, avalanches and freezing water.
Many students complain about having to go to class in -40 degree weather. These students only have to be outside for a maximum of ten minutes. This family must face these weather conditions for six straight days. Just as the title of the video states, “ Not Your Everyday Commute”.
