Nice paper on swidden horticulture in Europe
This paper talks about traditional swidden agriculture in Northern Europe, something not usually mentioned in discussions of today's mostly tropical swidden agriculture:
This is intresting because this form of horticulture was used in native american cultures with out the influence of the swiddish in Europe. The only difference is that they use the dead trees as firewood for the following winter.
